prmtv ccmltn - "drive for the return to inorganic matter" e.p. review & DL

PRIMITIVE ACCUMULATION - "DRIVE FOR THE RETURN TO INORGANIC MATTER" (2011)

Before I listened to this I jokingly told James I was going to say it was a group NSCAD art students doing a socio-political piece about the deconstruction of music. I listened to it. Twice now. And I'm not that far off. Most bands that claim things like "raw" and "noisy" sound like Bieber compared to this.
This is a full on noise assault. Fuzz and reverb over top of super fast drumming. The chaos of this tape seems to clear up a few times briefly to let a slowed down riff or bass line shine, before moving back into the rawness that make this tape exciting and isolating.
Reading the liner notes and absorbing the aesthetic of this band isn't subtle. It seems like they have a very specific idea that they are trying to convey. Knowing that, this tape sounds exactly like it's supposed to.
